Cartigel®’s unique formula is the result of its three natural ingredients:
Bioactive Collagen Hydrolysate
Bioactive Collagen Hydrolysate, a derivative of gelatin, is the main ingredient in Cartigel®. Hydrolyzed Collagen has been used since ancient times to benefit human health. Cartigel® is made from Type I Hydrolyzed Collagens, the same collagen that is found in human bones and skin. Cartigel® is a natural bioactive product containing more than 97% protein (on a dry weight basis).
Hydrolyzed collagen is highly digestible, and an oral ingestion has been reported as having beneficial effects on joint & bone health. Some clinical studies report that the oral ingestion of 10 grams of hydrolyzed collagen per day decreases the joint pain, and that patients having the most severe symptoms benefited more. One daily dose of Cartigel® contains 10 grams of Bioactive Collagen Hydrolysate.
Glucosamine is a naturally occurring molecule produced by the human body through cellular metabolism. Active lifestyles, combined with participation in sports and aging can wear down joint cartilage. Glucosamine is an important component of connective tissues, such as joints, and a key building block of joint cartilage and fluid. It is widely used to promote mobility and joint health and may help to prevent cartilage degeneration.
The glucosamine used in Cartigel® is produced from a vegetarian source and is the only commercially available glucosamine derived from non-animal, non-shellfish sources. Glucosamine has also been the subject of numerous studies and has been determined to be GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) through an independent evaluation by an expert panel of respected scientists.
Curcumin is found in the spice turmeric, which is a member of the ginger family. The curcuminoids are natural phenols. It has long been used in Asian medicine to treat conditions ranging from heartburn to arthritis. Curcumin is thought to carry antioxidant properties, which means it may decrease swelling and inflammation, and in vitroand animal studies have also suggested that Curcumin may have anti-inflammatory properties.
Curcumin is responsible for the yellow coloring of turmeric, and is often used has a natural food color. Curcumin gives Cartigel® its attractive natural buttercup flower color.
